058: The Power of a Simple Thanks
Thank you!
Before getting into this week's brief issue I need to say that to you.
"Thank you" for:
- Being part of our Personal Growth and Longevity (PGL) tribe.
- Reading and reflecting on each week's big ideas.
- Sharing our content with others.
- Having courage to age in the above average ways we talk about here.
Speaking of courage...
On theme for this issue - It takes some courage to be a grateful person.
How so?
It's far easier to get caught up in negativity, discontent, and discouragement.
Choosing gratitude shifts your focus.
It creates a pattern-interrupt that resets your perspective.
Gratitude is a mindset that compels you to keep things in perspective as you age
My daily journaling practice begins by responding to the prompt: "I'm grateful for..."
It's a simple seed-thought that typically involves me completing the sentence with whatever is front-of-mind relative to what I'm thankful for in the moment.
- Carrying forward a current or recent realization
- Believing that experiences are a gift
- Attaching significance to small or large discoveries
Carry it forward
Bring to mind a fresh realization you've had - tag it with some gratitude.
Believe it for what its worth
Reflect on a recent experience (or two) that left you feeling as though you were given a gift - wrap it in gratitude.
Live sticky
Attach some personal meaning to a recent discovery you've made - secure it with gratitude.
Let your gratitude become a way-of-life mindset that compels you
- Carry it forward - grateful realizations
- Believe it for what its worth - grateful experiences
- Live sticky - grateful discoveries
Press on...
